A thematic analysis has been used to coop with the vast body of sustainable development and environmental planning literature. The analysis identifies seven design concepts related to sustainable urban forms: compactness, sustainable transport, density, mixed land uses, diversity, passive solar design, and greening. To link transportation and land use, a Master Plan’s land use sec-tion should consider roadways as a type of land use. Development and zoning decisions should consider the existing capacity and in-tended function of a roadway and recognize the impact develop-ment will have on the transportation .

This EPA guidance presents the conditions under which the benefits of land use activities could be included in air quality and transportation planning processes. Land use activities are a tool to encourage the development of land use policies and projects that improve livability in general, and air quality in particular. Get this from a library! Several empirical and modeling studies integrating land use, transport and air quality issues and its main conclusions are presented. Results indicate that compact cities promote a better air quality when compared to the dispersed cities; on the other hand, when the subject is human exposure to pollutants, compact cities present worst by: 1.

This study aims to apply SG strategies to the land use planning process and evaluate the accuracy of land use planning decisions in the perspective of sustainable transportation. In order to reveal the effects of land use planning decisions on the available transportation infrastructure, two scenarios are investigated for Transportation Land-Use Planning, and Air Quality Conference by Transportation Land-Use Planning, and Air Quality Conference ( Orlando, Fla.),American Society of Civil Engineers edition, in English.

This evolution of modern transportation planning only strengthens the connection between land use and transportation at a critical point in time transportation systems that must be efficiently, attractively, equitably, and safely connected to land use, infrastructure and community, as well as allow for innovation such as the autonomous vehicle.
